Caporal Solomon Sophoan Son ( Bourse 2021)

First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude and thank the 3 FER foundation committee for selecting my application for the bursary program. My name is Solomon Sophoan Son, I have been in the reserves since 2015 and for this training year I am a section commander for 1 troop within 4 field squadron. I have a college degree in pure and applied sciences, and I now study in geology at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM). I will complete my studies next year, but I intend to switch career paths and start an undergraduate degree in physics. Apart from being a full-time student and a reservist, I also have another part-time job in my field of study, where I inspect and assess the quality of building materials by providing sampling, laboratory analysis and consulting services to the residential, commercial, and industrial real estate industries. My hobbies that I enjoy practicing when I’m not studying or working include rock climbing, Brazilian jiujitsu, swimming, and the cello. Thank you again. Sergeant Bibeau (Bourse 2021)

1. I am presently occupying the 1TP Warrant position, going on my second year.

2. I recently graduated (2020) from McGill in Bioresource Engineering with a major in agricultural and environmental engineering.

3. I work a side job during my studies as a part time mover.

4. I have two daughters at home, 2 and 5 years old, with my spouse of 9 years. I currently work in environmental emergency response for an engineering consulting company servicing the Canada Atlantic region at GHD.
